Directors

IAAP President – Terri Tripp

I am the Activity Coordinator at 3801 Grand which is an Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care community.  Previously I worked at a community with five levels of care so I am familiar with the challenges we all face as activity professionals in long term care settings.  My husband and I have two grown children and (currently) one grandchild.  I enjoy working in my flower garden, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

Speaking for myself and all of our board members, we welcome you to reach out to us for assistance and support to help you achieve your activity goals.

Treasurer – Chris Thomas

I am currently the Lifestyle Coordinator at the Cottages in Pella which is a new facility built as a household model. I have been in activities for over 39 years and have held many positions on the IAAP board. My husband George and I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy teaching exercise classes at our local fitness center, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I especially enjoy working with the elderly and providing meaningful activities.

Resource Room Coordinator – Erin Scott

Hi, I am new to the IAAP Board and Iowa my name is Erin Scott; my husband and I moved to Marshalltown in 2011. I have accepted the position as the Resource Coordinator and I am so EXCITED to work with this amazing group of people!

I am from Missouri and most of my healthcare experience is as an Activity Director in a 120 bed skilled facility. I then changed positions and became marketing director for the same company, WHCI.

My true passion has always been working with the elderly and I missed it terribly. So, when a position opened a year ago at a Care Initiatives facility in Marshalltown as the Activity Director at Southridge Specialty Care, I was thrilled to accept the position. I thoroughly enjoy working with the residents each and every day and it is always exciting to find new ideas to share with them.

My husband and I have two wonderful sons that are our pride and joy. Some of my hobbies are singing, gardening and just enjoying life to the fullest. I am looking forward to working with this amazing board this year and meeting all of the great activity talent out in the great state of IOWA!!

Newsletter Editor – Jeri Heffelfinger

After teaching elementary general and special education for 16 years, I moved into the field of LTC Activities.  I am now in my 10th year of activities for our LTC population.  I am the Activity Director at Genesis Senior Living Center on the south side of Des Moines.  On a personal note, I have a teenage boy, a dog, and 2 cats.  I also enjoy church missions and spent time in Uganda, Africa and would like to return some day!

Secretary – Hope Wiley

I am the secretary for the IAAP and have been for some time.   I have recently changed to a different community.  I no longer work for Ramsey Village.   I had been employed at Ramsey for nine years.  I am now the Activity Director at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, IA.  My responsibility is only for the health center with LTC and SNF level of care. Kennybrook Village was opened October 11, 2011 with IL, AL, and HC level of care.  I have been an activity director since 1986 and I guess I can’t get it out of my system.

I am married to Les for 25 years.  We are known as Hopeles or Leshope.  I have three adult step-children and 10 grandchildren.  I enjoy cooking, baking, some traveling, and going to my grandchildren’s activities.

Elections/Government Liaison – Rose Fowler

I have been an Activity Director since 2006.  I currently work at Ogden Manor in Ogden, near Boone.  I will have
been there 5 years in April 2016.  I am also Social Service designee. So that means I really love paperwork,
right?  We will soon be changing the name of our facility to Accura Healthcare. I have a son in Creston and
married daughter with two granddaughters in Las Vegas.

Assistant Treasurer/Public Relations – Robin Schiltz

I am the Activity Director at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, IA.  I started working in the Activity dept. in 2003, and became the Director in 2012.  I fell in love with my job the day I started!  My goal is to give our 92+ Residents the best quality of life the I possibly can,  and to continue to meet their needs!

I am on my second year as assistant treasurer/public relations position on the Board!  I love, love, love it!  These ladies are absolutely fantastic to work with, and we all have one major goal, which is to give you all the knowledge and success you need, in order to survive in the healthcare field of today’s constantly changing world!
