Directors

IAAP President – Terri Tripp

I am the Activity Coordinator at 3801 Grand which is an Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care community.  Previously I worked at a community with five levels of care so I am familiar with the challenges we all face as activity professionals in long term care settings.  My husband and I have two grown children and (currently) one grandchild.  I enjoy working in my flower garden, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

Speaking for myself and all of our board members, we welcome you to reach out to us for assistance and support to help you achieve your activity goals.

Message from the President

The IAAP Fall Conference is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18th & Friday, Oct. 19th, 2018 at the Gateway Conference Center in Ames, Iowa.  We have fabulous speakers lined up this conference.  You won’t want to miss this conference!  We also reviewed the evaluations and made changes to our end time on Friday.  Check out the website – speaker’s bio and programs are listed along with the schedule for both days.  See you in October!

Treasurer – Chris Thomas

I am currently the Lifestyle Coordinator at the Cottages in Pella which is a new facility built as a household model. I have been in activities for over 40 years and have held many positions on the IAAP board. My husband George and I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy teaching exercise classes at our local fitness center, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I especially enjoy working with the elderly and providing “purposeful” meaningful activities.

Newsletter Editor – Jeri Heffelfinger

I’m Jeri.  After being an elementary and special needs teacher for 16 years, I made a career change and have spent the last 12 years in the activity field.  The majority of this time was in long-term care but I currently work in an assisted living/memory care community.  I enjoy continually learning about all aspects of the activities field and things to impact the quality of life of our elderly.

I have been on the Iowa Association of Activity Professionals’ Board of Directors for 10 years and currently serve (and enjoy) the role of Newsletter Editor.

Secretary – Hope Wiley

I am the secretary for the IAAP and have been for some time.   I have recently changed to a different community.  I no longer work for Ramsey Village.   I had been employed at Ramsey for nine years.  I am now the Activity Director at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, IA.  My responsibility is only for the health center with LTC and SNF level of care. Kennybrook Village was opened October 11, 2011 with IL, AL, and HC level of care.  I have been an activity director since 1986 and I guess I can’t get it out of my system.

I am married to Les for 25 years.  We are known as Hopeles or Leshope.  I have three adult step-children and 10 grandchildren.  I enjoy cooking, baking, some traveling, and going to my grandchildren’s activities.

Assistant Treasurer/Public Relations, Elections- Rose Fowler

I have been an Activity Director since 2006.  I currently work at Ogden Manor in Ogden, near Boone.  I will have
been there 5 years in April 2016.  I am also Social Service designee. So that means I really love paperwork,
right?  We will soon be changing the name of our facility to Accura Healthcare. I have a son in Creston and
married daughter with two granddaughters in Las Vegas.

Hi everyone!  I have reached my 15th year in Activities, and continue to love every minute of it!  I work in Denison at Eventide Lutheran Home, and I am also the Diversional Activity Director for skilled patients at Crawford County Memorial Hospital.

I enjoy meeting new people, and being the resource room coordinator has been a really exciting adventure.  There are many Activity resources out there, and it is a personal goal of mine to introduce you to as many as possible!

Being on the IAAP Board has been a glorious experience so far!  The new people I have met, and the Board members re so very wonderful!  I have been very fortunate to be able to learn so many new things about the world of Activities through my endeavors on the Board.  The yearly conference gives me a real “breath of fresh air” and I look forward to meeting more of you great Iowa activity people!

On a personal level, I have 3 daughters and 3 beautiful grandchildren.  Most of my spare time is spent with family, but I also enjoy volunteering throughout my community, reading, walking and going to movies
